at Archeworks

Archeworks is pleased to announce that environmental activist Wendy Abrams, founder and president of Cool Globes, will be this year’s Honorary Diploma recipient at Archeworks’s Class of 2008 Graduation ceremony on Sunday May 11,  2008 at 12pm.

Cool Globes (www.coolglobes.com) is a non-profit organization formed to raise awareness of global warming to inspire individuals and community leaders to embrace solutions.

Ms. Abrams conceived the "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet" public art project in Chicago in 2007. She is a member of the National Council of Environmental Defense, the National Advisory Board of the Union of Concerned Scientists and the National Resources Defense Council C4 Action Fund.

Each year Archeworks honors an individual for their outstanding contribution and commitment to promoting art and design education for socially conscious projects as part of the Archeworks commencement ceremony. Past recipients of the Honorary Diploma in Alternative Architecture and Design include Sunny Fischer (Richard H. Driehaus Foundation), Lois Weisberg (Cultural Affairs, City of Chicago) and Bryan Bell (Design Corps).

Archeworks is located at 625 North Kingsbury Street (at Ontario).
