2012–13 LECTURES David Brown Failure as an Option David Brown, an associate professor of architecture at University of
Illinois at Chicago is currently investigating, in design research
and teaching, ways in which the concerns of existing organizations
overseeing various scales of metropolitan development can provide parameters
for modes of urban design and planning that can negotiate an area’s
transformation in time. He is co-editor of two publications Row: Trajectories
Through the Shotgun House, a forthcoming Architecture at Rice publication
supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and Built
Surface, a workshop catalog supported by a Graham Foundation Grant that
document symposiums that he co-organized while teaching at Rice University
and Florida A&M University, respectively. He received his undergraduate
degree in art history from Brown University and his Masters of Architecture
from University of California, Berkeley. |
